Who is the target audience?
The primary audience includes women from 17 and above from various backgrounds, skill levels, and professions who are considering or actively pursuing a career change to enter the tech ecosystem.
What's the duration of the program?
The beginners' program holds for 12 weeks. Although, learning is self paced, each participant is expected to complete a set of courses and projects every week.
What happens after the program?
There will be a demo day where participants will be interviewed by potential recruiters while other will pitch their projects to investors and grant makers.
Are there opportunities for further learning?
The program run twice a year. New beginners can join any of the cohorts, while only those who have completed beginner level will be admitted into the advanced class.
How is the training program structured, and what is the learning format?
Participants are expected to complete a specific number of courses and projects per week. Each participant will log into a custom Learning Management System (LMS), from where they will complete their classes and submit their weekly projects.
What if I need to speak to an instructor?
There will be LIVE Q&A sessions every Saturday, where all participants can ask and receive answers to all their questions.
What are the criteria for qualifying for the cash prizes awarded by Wema Bank?
To qualify for the cash grant awarded by Wema Bank, you must complete at least 80% of courses, 100% of projects, and there will be a LIVE assessment with a minimum performance of 90%.
Are there networking opportunities with other ladies in the programme?
Yes, participants will be grouped into different WhatsApp groups where they will network and complete projects together.
Can returning mothers or women on career breaks, apply?
Yes. The programme is opened to all women looking to transition into tech.
Are there any prerequisites for joining the training program?
The first cohort is suitable for all beginners. Future programmes will require a basic understanding of certain programming languages.
What type of certification is provided upon completion of a course?
Participants receive a certification of completion, indicating their successful mastery of the course content. These certificates are recognized within the industry and can be added to resumes and LinkedIn profiles.
How does the program support participants in job placement or career advancement?
The training program offers career services, including resume building, interview preparation, networking opportunities, and other soft skills required to transit and advance successfully in the tech field.
